Early in April, we announced that the Assessment Review Board (ARB) and MPAC had extended the deadline for filing assessment appeals and Requests for Reconsideration (RfR) for the 2020 property taxation year, but had not set a firm date. Both have now confirmed deadline dates.

MPAC has now set a firm deadline for the RfR filing for the 2020 taxation year ​to September 28, 2020. The RfR deadline is usually March 31 of the applicable taxation year. However, pursuant to the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and regulations made thereunder, they extended the deadline. 

The ARB set the deadline to file appeals to May 29, 2020, which has now lapsed. ​The only route available to challenge your assessment for 2020 is by filing an RfR with MPAC. However, if you still had appeals pending at the ARB for 2019 back in March of this year, appeals for 2020 are automatically deemed to be made and no further action is necessary.
