Minden Gross LLP is pleased to announce that litigation lawyer Irvin Schein has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Meritas Law Firms Worldwide, a global alliance of independent business law firms. Irvin was elected to the position during Meritas’ recent annual meeting in San Diego, California, held from April 3 - April 5, 2019.
In his role as a board member, Irvin will be responsible for reviewing and establishing policy and setting strategy for the organization. Irvin will also act as an organizational leader, serving as a liaison to member firms on administrative issues. He will continue to be an ambassador and advocate for the organization, developing awareness of Meritas within the membership as well as in the greater legal and business community.
Irvin will serve a three-year term on the Meritas Board of Directors, which is comprised of 21 lawyers from its member firms around the world.
Irvin has been actively involved with Meritas over the years as an author and lecturer on litigation practice-related matters. His leadership roles in Meritas include being a longtime member and former Chair of the Meritas Canadian Management Committee, he currently serves as a co-Chair of the Meritas Litigation group for North America, and is a longtime member of the Meritas Canada Litigation Group.
As a senior partner and Chair in Minden Gross LLP's Litigation Group, Irvin is an experienced mediator and arbitrator and served in management on the firm's Executive Committee for over 10 years. Irvin has represented clients in litigation matters across a vast number of areas in many industries. Irvin earned his LLM in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2014.
