Melodie is a Partner in the Commercial Leasing Group. She represents commercial landlords and tenants in office, retail, industrial, and mixed-use properties. Melodie’s experience includes negotiating and interpreting commercial leases and ancillary documents and providing advice on leasing-related issues related to purchase and sales, redevelopments, defaults, and terminations. She has helped international businesses looking to establish a presence in Canada and retail tenants looking to implement an aggressive growth strategy.
Melodie is a frequent lecturer for professional and commercial organizations and conferences, such as the Law Society of Ontario and the ICSC Canadian Law Conference. She was named as a 2018 Rising Star by the Georgetown Advanced Commercial Leasing Institute, an invitation-only conference for experienced leasing lawyers with 10+ years of experience.
Melodie chose a leasing practice because she enjoys working with landlords and tenants as they negotiate their way through complex leasing transactions. Her business acumen is of great benefit in helping clients see the big picture while still focusing on both the legal and business issues at hand.
Away from the office, Melodie enjoys an active lifestyle that includes hiking and running. These activities require a different focus from law but also require a level of dedication and understanding that she finds helpful in her practice.
