Spencer is an associate in our Business Law Group. His work focuses on corporate/commercial law with a special interest in mergers, acquisitions, and business solutions for clients in the health, industrial, and food services sectors.
Spencer has a particular interest in working with start-ups and entrepreneurs. He brings specialized knowledge that combines his own start-up experience and his background in law to help companies navigate the complex legal minefield of starting, developing, managing, and selling a business.
Spencer also has a great deal of experience in the medical cannabis industry. He has been an advisor to private and public companies, cannabis producers, applicants, shareholders, and a variety of businesses supporting the medical cannabis industry. He has worked on a broad range of matters which include licensing, financing, compliance with the ACMPR and patient privacy regulations, as well as general corporate matters. Spencer has been doing corporate and regulatory work in the cannabis industry since the MMPR was first rolled out, and takes a "best practices" approach when solving problems, with a view to the long-term success of his clients' businesses.
Outside of law, Spencer has an interest in photography and video production. He has produced promotional content for Osgoode Hall Law School, ARCH Disability Law Centre, Osgoode Mental Health Association and also filmed and edited two short documentaries on Black History Month for the inaugural presentation of the Lincoln Alexander Award.
