Carl is a member of our Real Estate Group. His practice includes both property development and commercial real estate transactions. Carl also has broad experience dealing with problem real estate loans. He was general counsel in the Standard Trust Company liquidation and was a key lawyer in Standard’s $600 million sale of mortgage assets to Laurentian Bank of Canada. He was also a special counsel to Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation where, among other things, he advised on matters arising from the failures of various trust and loan corporations. This experience gives Carl a unique perspective on real estate lending and recovery.
